Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
What problems can OSAHS lead to?
As well as excessive sleepiness, difficulties concentrating and mood changes, people with OSAHS can have other problems, including:
- feeling tired and exhausted
- needing to pass water frequently during the night
- irritability
- depression
- choking during sleep
- a reduced sex drive
Also, because a person with OSAHS is not getting enough oxygen during the night and the effort they make to breathe can raise their blood pressure and strain their heart, they may develop long-term problems with high blood pressure or even their heart.
